Justin Anne Patterson is a yoga instructor at Indigo Hot Yoga. Self care is top of mind for her these days. She suggests we strike a pose because, as she says, “When life gets crazy and you’re being pulled in a million different directions, don’t forget to take care of YOU! It’s hard to pour from an empty cup.”

Here is how she is self caring right now:

1. I practice a restorative yoga pose every night in bed. Reclined butterfly is my favorite! Soles of your feet together, let your knees fall open while laying on your back (just like old school, gym class butterfly pose, but you’re laying down). This pose lowers your blood pressure and brings your heart rate down. Who doesn’t need that right now!?

2. I make time to do something creative. My other love is art. In particular, painting. I blast 90’s hip hop and bust out the acrylic paints.

3. I head outside with my two rescue pit bull mixes, Gigi and Luna. Sunshine and dogs are instant mood boosters.

Let Patterson be a ray of sunshine for you. Follow her on Instagram .
