Calling all artists…
Design a retro magazine rack for WALTER

We are searching for artists to help refurbish old News & Observer racks as part of our new method of distribution. We hope to work with local artists to create unique and relevant art to house our issues around Raleigh. These racks will be transformed into pieces of functional public art using weather proof art materials and a little imagination.

Why submit? Racks will be on display in prominent locations in Raleigh (downtown, North Hills, Dock 1053, etc.) and will be included in an arts feature in the October issue of WALTER magazine. It’s a great opportunity to showcase your art and share it with the community.

The WALTER team will review and select 10-20 artists to complete the racks. Designs will reflect the WALTER brand. Since these racks will be in public view, artwork should avoid inappropriate content. WALTER reserves the right to reject any submissions that are not in keeping with our brand identity.

Racks will be available for pick up or delivery Monday, July 16. Selected artists will be given one rack to transform in collaboration with the rack’s future location. Artists will not be compensated for their time or work and must supply all art materials. These racks should use weather-proof materials. Finished racks must be completed and ready for pick up by Monday, August 20th

If interested, our deadline has been extended to Friday, July 13. Please send samples of your work and/or website. Artists will be notified by Monday, July 16
